le 13 juillet – Epeigné-les-Bois en avance: moules frites!

Reminder 13 July

The church@night

le Mairie

Every year Épeigné-les-Bois shows what a cutting edge village it is by commencing the celebrations of the French Revolution a few hours early, while most of the rest of France waits until the following day - 14th July. Just to underline the success and scale of Epeigné's celebetrations even the Tour de France has recognised that it cannot compete: there is no racing on the 13th – it's a rest day!

Sign for Le Lézard Vert

The other news is the village is that Le Lézard Vert will change hands on 1st August with restaurant facilities added to the current bar and shop. (Further updates when available.)

It would seem the French are rather good at commencing the celebrations more than a few hours early — or that's how it looked to me when I was in Paris in 1980. On Saturday the 12th, an awful lot of firecrackers were thrown into crowds outside the Sacré-Cœur, I seem to remember. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was still the case.

I trust firecrackers aren't thrown into the crowds@Épeigné-les-Bois on Monday evening. ........
