A visit this afternoon to the new cellars of Château Gaudrelle in Rochecorbon. His family's desire to sell Château Gaudrelle in Vouvray meant that Alexandre Monmousseau had to find somewhere else to make his wine, although he kept the vineyards and the right to the name Château Gaudrelle. By happy chance to found these cellars at the western end of Rochecorbon.

We toured the Monmousseau cellars in Montrichard two years ago, while cycling. Is Alexandre a part of that family? (We have a couple bottles of Monmousseau 2002 Bourgueil - way too harsh to drink in 2008; we may wait for 2012)
Frank. Alexandre is part of the family that founded Monmousseau in Montrichard but it was sold I think during the 1970s to Taittinger, who then sold the company on. However, Alexandre's late father, Armand, ran the company until his retirement.
